DNipCare Sensitizing the people on Palliative Care

15th August 2009, the first Anniversary of DNipCare

Mr. Cyriac Antony, Ms. Sumitha C, Mr. Madhu and Mr. K.V.Hamza, the Volunteers of DNipCare attended the General Body meeting of Chaitram Malayali Association, Gurgaon, Haryana and sensitized the members on the necessity of Palliative Care and its role in the society.

Volunteers also attended a patient in Sector 52, Gurgaon on Social Home Care visit.

It is really heartening that the members of Chaitram Malayali Association have started thinking towards Palliative Care in addition to their usual charity and socio cultural activities and were eager to hear about this system of human care.

Further, on this Anniversary day of DNipCare it gives immense pleasure to the volunteers in getting convinced that there are enough kind hearts like members of Chaitram to carry on the mission of Palliative Care we have undertaken for providing quality life to the ailing patients around us, a long way.

Mrs. Kavita Anand, DNipCare Patient died on 08.08.2009

My dear Friends,

I am very sorry to inform all of you about the sad demise of Mrs. Kavita Anand at 9.00 AM today, i.e., 08.08.2009. She was suffering from Cervical Cancer. She came into our Palliative family of DNipCare on 10th June 2009. From then onwards, the volunteers of DNipCare extended all possible assistance including her CT scan getting done, providing medicines prescribed by doctors and ration, in addition to the psychological support to the patient right from the time when the prognosis was broken to her by the doctors of AIIMS. A ray of hope for life and confidence could be instilled in her by the volunteers to live a possible quality life despite her deteriorating health. We the volunteers of DNipCare will remember her fondly ever especially her wish to work with us for helping other ailing patients if recovered from her own illness.

Let us all reaffirm our commitment once again at this time in the interest of all ailing patients around us.

With warm regards,

DNipCare - Monthly Review Meeting - August 2009

My dear Friends,

The monthly review meeting of Delhis National Initiative in Palliative Care (DNipCare) will be held on 8th August 2009 Saturday at 5.30 PM in Kerala Club, M-67, Connaught Place, New Delhi. Medical professionals and a very good number of volunteers are expected to attend the meeting.

In this context we are happy to share with you the information that DNipCare is completing one year of its existence in Delhi on 15th Auguts 2009, rendering Palliative Care by way of psycho social support to the suffering patients. Of late we have also started providing medical home care, wherever possible, thanks to the relentless support being extended by some of our kind hearted medical fraternity including doctors and nurses.

Even with this limited resources and increased area of operation, our organization is so far able to do fairly well in providing Palliative Care to the identified patients with the sole commitment of our dedicated volunteers.

So let us meet on Saturday 8th August 2009 at 6.00 PM for our review meeting and introspect ourselves so as to plan further required improvement in our mission in the interest of the suffering patients around us. Let us sacrifice a little time of our siesta, comforts and get up to help the ailing patients as we shall be able to do such things only when we are up, hail an hearty. Hope to meet you all in Kerala Club positively and to receive your valuable suggestions in furtherance of this Palliative discipline.

With warm regards,

k.v. hamza.
