"Palliative Care: An Update, Workshop / Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) by Lok Nayak Hospital for the Nursing Officers in association with DNipCare on 19.01.2019



The Lok Nayak Hospital, New Delhi conducted "Palliative  Care: An Update, Workshop / Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) for the Nursing Officers of the hospital in association with DNipCare on 19.01.2019 in the Ahalyabai Nursing College Auditorium in the hospital complex.  The following sessions were included in the program:
1.Introduction  and Need of Palliative  Care: by Dr. Rathi  Balachandran, ADG (Nursing), MoHFW, Govt.of India.
2.Role of Nurse  in Palliative  Care: by Prof (Dr) A.T.Kora,Nursing  Superintendent,St.Stephen's  Hospital,Delhi.
3.Communication  and Breaking  Bad News: Sr. Hanife  Mac Gamwell, Palliative  Care Nurse  Specialist.
4.Pain Management  for Nurses :Dr.Nandan Chaudhary ,IRCH, AIIMS, Delhi.
5.Stoma  Care: Mrs.N. Shingde,Sr.Nursing  Officer,Palliative  Care Nurse, IRCH, AIIMS, Delhi.
6.Professional  Self  Care  for Nurses :Dr.C .N.Bhargavi, Sr.Faculty,CON,Dr. RML Hospital,N.Delhi
7.Community  Based  Palliative  Care: Mr.K.V.Hamza,General  Secretary,DNipCare.

2.Communication, Breaking  Bad News, End of Life  Care and Hospice : Sr.Hanife  Mac Gamwell .

3.Professional  Self Care  for Nurses : Mrs. Reeta Dhar, Education Officer, Health Education Bureau, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

4.Community  Based  Palliative  Care: Mr.K.V.Hamza, General Secretary, DNipCare.

DNipCare's celebration of the New Year under the theme ‘Winter Warmth in Palliative Care’ with Cancer Patients in the Dharmashala of Delhi State Cancer Institute, Dilshad Garden, Delhi on 06th January 2019



The DNipCare (Delhites National Initiative in Palliative Care) celebrated the New Year under the theme ‘Winter Warmth in Palliative Care’ with Cancer Patients in the Dharmashala of Delhi State Cancer Institute, Dilshad Garden, Delhi.  Mrs. Vandana Sharma, Additional Secretary (Retd.), Department of Pensions was the Chief Guest and Mr. Syam Kumar, Joint Secretary, NORKA Roots, the Guest of Honour, during the event.   Dr. RK Grover, Director & CEO of Delhi State Cancer Institute presided over the program. 
Woollen Blankets sponsored by KMCC Delhi have been distributed among the patients to help them getting rid of the biting cold currently prevailing in Delhi.

The program with participation from Volunteers from all walks of life including Students from premier institutions in Delhi was an opportunity for both the Volunteers and suffering patients to interact and exchange pleasantries.  The patients also felt a reprieve from their pain and sufferings through interactions with the Volunteers as their own near and dears are far away at their native States.  Mr. Suresh Thaliyaril, Secretary DNipCare and Mr. Abdul Kareem, Ms. Seema Prasad, Mr. Saleel Chembayil, Mr. Shyamalan Perinchira, Ms. Kalpana Gupta, Ms. Kasturi Babu, Mr. Naresh Kumar etc.,  the Volunteers coordinated the event.
