Santri - Destitute Cancer Patient

With the active participation of our volunteers Ms. Syeda Anam, Mr. Subodh Kumar, coordinated by Ms. Seema Prasad at DSCI, Mr. Anil of GTB Hospital, Antony Baby Sir and Mr. Subin Salam at Shanti Avedna Sadan, we could finally shift Santri, the 60 years old destitute Cancer patient (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of Breast), from Delhi State Cancer Institute, Dilshad Garden to Shanti Avedna Sadan for Palliative Hospice Care on 25th August 2020.  We could get her Covid Negative Certificate on 24th August 2020.   Our efforts and prayers for her improved quality of life as she is our DNipCare Palliative family member now.

Bringing back the smile on their faces through improving quality in life is the ultimate goal of Palliative Care.  Photograph of Santri, the 60 years old destitute Cancer patient, now in Shanti Avedna Sadan.   We tried to ask in our group as to whether any one among the group members can  recognize her village from the voice clipping of her circulated.  Or where does she belong to from the way she speaks?  It was our effort to find out her whereabouts.

It is very sad to inform that Santri, one among our Palliative family members and the destitute Cancer Patient  admitted by us in Shanti Avedna Sadan died at 7.35 AM today, 16.09.2020.  Our Syamalan Sir is informing the concerned Officer of Delhi Police Rajouri Garden Station to know about the further protocols.  Our volunteers will, therefore, be required to give our presence and participation with Shanti Avedna Sadan for deceased Santri.  I will inform the timings and the place where she will be cremated once decided.

So finally, since she was a destitute and MLC was there in Rajouri Garden Police Station, the body of Santri, died in Shanti Avedna Sadan has been handed over to Delhi Police for further action as per their protocol.  We admitted her in Shanti Avedna Sadan on 25.08.2020 though we were following up her case in Delhi State Cancer Institute since mid July for obtaining her Covid Negative Certificate to ensure admission for Palliative Hospice Care.  Despite best effort by Shanti Avedna Sadan staff and our Volunteers, we could not trace out her place/region of origin and now she has gone.  Let us all pray for her departed soul.
