Mrs. Mankumari passed away today

With profound grief we have to inform everybody that Mrs. Mankumari, one of our Palliative Patients died at 4 PM today, i.e., 14th April 2011 in her native place in Nepal where she went to spend her last days with her children.

We express our deep hearted condolences to the bereaved family.

We are grateful to Dr. K.S. Manoj, former MP and Anaesthatist and Mr. Suresh Thaliyaril, Male Nurse for visiting Mrs. Mankumari at her home and hospital and giving pain relief when she was in dire need of it while suffering from Cancer and staying in Delhi. Mrs. Molly and Mrs. Valsamma, both nurses, along with our other volunteers were also of extreme help in providing solace to this patient.

  1. Though the patient reach to us at her later stage, we could give a possile (palliative) care to her through our short interventions. But the imporatnce of building up a strong netwrk and updating the existing contacts are necessary to identify such pateint in an early stage...because palliative care is "not an end of life care"
