DNipCare celebrated Independence Day with ’Freedom from Pain’ Campaign

Delhite's National Initiative in Palliative Care organized India’s 67th Independence Day Celebration on 15th August 2013 with Cancer Patients at Sir Soba Singh Dharamshala of Delhi State Cancer Institute (East), Dilshad Garden, Delhi. The theme of the program was “Freedom from Pain”.


The day’s celebration began with flag hoisting ceremony at the Cancer Institute (East). Dr. R K Grover, Director & CEO, Delhi State Cancer Institute hoisted the flag.
Mrs. Vandana Sharma, Joint Secretary Department of Pension & Pensioner’s Welfare, Shri MK Sharma, Additional Secretary (Retd.), Ministry of Law & Justice, Dr. Deepak Srivastava, Neurologist and Shri AT Sainudin, President DNipCare led the Freedom from Pain Campaign.
Volunteers of DNipcare and members of NSS unit of IIT Delhi visited patients in the wards and those staying in the adjacent Sir Sobha Singh Dharamshala of the Cancer Institute.
Entering into 6th Year of Service
DNipCare has entered into its 6th year of service on 15th August 2013. The organization provides palliative home care for chronic, bedridden and terminally ill patients in Delhi and National Capital Region.
DNipCare aims at development of sustainable cost effective system of Palliative Care with active community participation for patients suffering from long term, bed-ridden, incurable, life limiting illnesses. “Our strategy is to encourage local people to address the social needs of patients and their families, train the community volunteers to offer emotional support, facilitate the development of locally sustainable home care programs and to establish a network of committed volunteers, nurses and doctors with expertise in palliative care to support such initiatives”- said Mr. K. V Hamza, General Secretary, DNipCare. In addition to medical home care and psycho-social support to patient and family, DNipCare provides food support to the needy patients and help rehabilitate the family. Awareness campaign is one of the activities of the organization.
