The Palliative Care sensitization was conducted in JM International School, Sector 6, Dwarka Delhi today, i.e., 27th April 2013. More than 100 students from different classes participated in the program.
These students have already had an exposure to the social work arena through visits to the old age homes and other destitute homes. A presentation on the different aspects of Palliative care activities under DNipCare in Delhi has been made with special focus on Paediatric Palliative Care and the role of younger generation in providing quality time to the long term, bedridden, terminally ill patients including Cancer Patients.
Suresh Thaliyaril, Pankaj Kochhar, Arun Unnikrishnan, Deepa Vats, Seema Prasad, Abida Rahman, Chanchal Vats etc., interacted with the students and shared their palliative experiences. Students have also been pledged to work voluntarily for patients in their neighbourhood areas.
Mrs. Anuradha Govindh, Principal of the School proposed to further the cause of Palliation for ailing patients especially Paediatric patients by involving the potential of young children of the school. Ms. Smita Kumar, basically a palliative volunteer with DNipCare and teaching English in the school coordinated the program.
