World Palliative Care Day-10th October 2009

My dear friends,

As all of you are aware, the World Palliative Care Day is on 10th October 2009(Saturday). We, the volunteers of Delhi’s National Initiative in Palliative Care (DNipCare) also would like to be a part of this World activity of celebrating the Palliative Care Day taking place simultaneously across the countries. It is not only a celebration of a specific Day, but rather we should make use of the occasion to create awareness among the patients that such a system of care does exist for them and they make use of it. Further, people of every sphere need to be sensitized on the efficacy of this care so that there will not be a dearth of volunteers and resources for rendering this most required care in our society.

Therefore I request all of you to gear up with great ideas, more commitment and dedication in the interest of all ailing patients around us. Please remember that they were also healthy and happy till the misfortune visited their homes by way of illness or accident. A sensitization campaign through public meeting participated by eminent persons from all walks of life especially Palliative Care fields, followed with a cultural evening showcasing the in-house talents of volunteers, well wishers, patients and their families are the agenda for the Day. All of you will be kept posted on the venue and time of the event DNipCare would be organizing.
