The
first Outpatient Clinic for Palliative patients has been inaugurated today, i.e., Saturday, 14th June 2014 by
two of the Palliative family members under DNipCare in D-218, Abul Fazal
Enclave, Jamia Nagar, Okhla, Delhi-110025. Miss Tamanna Khatoon and Miss
Jyoti, the young patients of the age of 14 & 16 suffering from Bilateral
Glucoma and Cancer respectively inaugurated the Clinic. Dr. Anjana
Saxena, Deputy Commissioner (Retd.), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
will lead the medical team managing the clinic. Consultation and dispensation
of medicines, both free of charges will be available for Palliative patients in
the Clinic on Sundays (Forenoon) and Wednesdays (Afternoon). Mr. Antony
Cyriac, Treasurer, welcomed the gathering and Mr. KK Basheer, President of
DNipCare presided over the inaugural function.
A
presentation on the necessity of community based Palliative Home Care being
delivered by the DNipCare for the last six year and now the envisaged scaled up
activity through outpatient Clinic was given to the audience. Further the
audience were urged to participate in the Palliative care for long term,
bedridden, terminally ill patients including Cancer patients and Geriatrics
within their colony and spread the awareness on both Cancer and other
Non-Communicable diseases. Mr. Khurram, Prof. Javed Hussain, Dr. MM
Kunju, Mr. Saju etc., spoke on the occasion. The team of male and female
nurses from AIIMS, Safdarjung and other premier hospitals in Delhi and grouped
under DNipCare voluntary Nurses to provide palliative home care during their
spare time to bedridden patients at their homes have also been honoured during
the occasion. Mr. Ajith Kumar, Mr. Abdul Khalik and Mr. Saleel Chembayil
coordinated the program.
