Oanh Pham - DNipCare Student Volunteer and Intern.

The first apprehension was how she will understand the issues being faced by the patients who know only Hindi language.  Then, it was about how to communicate with her by other volunteers, if she is not good at English.   All the apprehensions vanished in thin air as Miss Oanh Pham, the Vietnamese Girl joined DNipCare for doing her field work of MSW she was pursuing from Department of Social Work, Delhi University, became one among all our other Volunteers including Student Volunteers, won the hearts of every patient and volunteer she interacted with sans the expected barriers of language, culture and nationality.

It was at the beginning of her stint with DNipCare, when she was assigned the role of measuring and noting down the BP of the patients during a Medical Camp at Dakshinpuri and to her surprise, the BP apparatus was also found to be made in Vietnam.  She was very fond of tiny babies and loved to take care of them during our Clinic on Sundays.   Her video of an old couple taking care of each other while walking long stretch with luggage was heart touching.

Apart from completing the academic field work, it is her commitment, sincerity and sensitivity for improving the quality of life of suffering chronic patients, she has even conveyed her strong desire to be the brand ambassador of Palliative Care to propagate it to the masses when back in her own country.

All the best wishes Oanh Pham, we know that your perspective on public health might have had a sea of change when you see tomorrow’s dawn in Vietnam.  Happy journey Oanh.
