Suicide Prevention - Gate Keeper Training Programme by Listening Community in collaboration with DNipCare & Kerala Club on 07th September 2024

On the eve of the World Suicide Prevention Day, the Listening Community in collaboration with DNipCare & Kerala Club held a "Suicide Prevention - Gate Keeper Training Programme" in Kerala Club on 07th September 2024.  

Miss Thasni Sirajudheen, Coordinator, Listening Community, started the program by introducing the dignitaries to the participants.  Mr. KV Hamza, Gen. Secretary, DNipCare welcomed the audience and the dignitaries.  He has also recollected an incident of the pathetic health conditions of a suicide attempted patient seen during the Palliative Home care visits.

Mr. Subu Rahman, IAAS, President, DNipCare inaugurated the programme and talked about the necessity of the training specifically in the current socio-cultural scenario.  

Mr. AJ Philip, President Kerala Club and Veteran Journalist having over half a century stint in Journalism, while delivering the Presidential speech focused on the issue of suicide prevailing in the society and efficacy of these kinds of trainings for the society.  

Mr. Madhavan Kutty, Secretary, Kerala Club and Prof.(Dr.) Sakhi John felicitated the Programme.

The following Psychologists made presentations of different aspects of the subject in detail and also answered the Questions raised by the participants, mainly the Psychology students of various Colleges and Universities in Delhi in addition to the DNipCare Volunteers and the general public.

Ms. Aakanksha Sharma Counseling Psychologist, Certified QPR gatekeeper, co-founder of Beyond  Words, and Volunteer at DNipCare,

Mr. Sayed Ebrahim Mubasheer SM, Senior Research Fellow at Jamia Millia Islamia, and Researcher at Bano Connection Lab,

Ms. Varsha kV Counseling Psychologist, co-founder of Beyond  Words, and Volunteer at DNipCare,

Miss Risha S Hussain, Coordinator, Listening Community said Vote of Thanks. 

Students from different Colleges and Universities in Delhi attended the program in addition to the general public.  

Overall coordination of the programme has been done by KV Hamza, Gen. Secretary, DNipCare.
