Our condolence to the bereaved family of Mr. Omanakuttan Pillai

Our condolence to the bereaved family of Mr. Omanakuttan Pillai

While expressing our heartfelt condolence on the untimely demise of Mr. Omanakuttan Pillai 46 years of Munirka Village, Delhi at 2 AM today, i.e., 19th August 2013 due to chronic kidney disease, we, the volunteers of DNipCare would also like to invite the attention of common people to the pathetic situation of all kidney patients in this in this National Capital Territory.  Hence, the newspaper clipping is also posted here.

Mr. Omanakuttan Pillai belongs to Kollam District of Kerala.  Our association with him was since 16th June 2013 while his disease started early 2013.  We are grateful to all our volunteers like Ajith kumar, Dr. MM Kunju, Suresh Thaliyaril, Mohammed Haseeb, Arun Unnikrishnan, Omana Gopalan, Arun Thomas etc to name a few who used to visit him under Palliative Home Care program of DNipCare.  Let us all pray for the departed soul.
Despite the fact that Mr. Omanakuttan Pillai was staying at a distance of less than 5 KM from the AIIMS, Delhi, he had been forced to resort to avail dialysis from National Heart Institute, East of Kailash incurring an expenditure of about more than 20,000/- per month when he himself or family was not having any income at all.  The scenario is well explained in the newspaper clipping.
AIIMS burdened by Kidney Patients
- Total 210 Transplant Centers in India
     * Of which 66% in South, West 17%, North 13%, East 4%, Central 1%
- 12 Dialysis machines installed in AIIMS in 1989
     * Only 1 machine added to make it 13 in last 24 years
