The Online Academic Programme of DGHS -DNipCare – ECHO India program on “Promoting Excellence in Palliative Care Nursing – Batch-2, Session-8 - Valedictory Session” held on 05th February 2022.
The topic of the Session -2 was End of Life Care and Caring Last Hours.
Miss Oanh Pham, DNipCare Intern and DU Social Work Master's student welcomed the faculties, dignitaries and all the participating Nursing fraternity.
Dr. CN Bhargavi, Faculty, College of Nursing, Dr. RML Hospital and Academic Coordinator DNipCare along with Mr. KV Hamza, General Secretary moderated the Valedictory Session.
The Keynote Address was to be delivered by Dr. Rathi Balachandran, ADG(Nursing), DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, but due to last minute busy meeting could not attend.
Prof. (Dr.) Sushma Bhatnagar, Head of the Department of OncoAnaesthesia and Palliative Medicine, IRCH, AIIMS New Delhi and President, Indian Association of Palliative Care inaugurated the Valedictory Session.
Prof(Dr.) Julia Downing who was the Special Invitee for the Programme, felicitated the programme and spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Shashikant Sharma, Registrar, Rajasthan Nursing Council, was Guest of Honour for the Programme.
Mrs. Sreelekha R, Chief Nursing Officer, Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram Kerala was also Guest of Honour and spoke at length felicitating the Programme.
Mr. KV Hamza, General Secretary, DNipCare felicitated the programme and participants.
Dr. K V Ganpathy (PhD) the volunteer at Palliative Medicine at TATA memorial hospital Mumbai and also Clinical Psychologist and CEO of JASCAP, introduced the topic of the Session.
Hanife Mac Gamwell Palliative Care Nurse Specialist, Coordinator and Instructor ELNEC USA, Honorary Head and Instructor, India and Volunteer of DNipCare made the presentation and delivered the lecture on the topic with her natural flow grabbing the attention of entire participants and dignitaries.
Case/Experience sharing was done by Ms. Anu Savio Thelly, Nurse Consultant in Palliative Care, MGMCRI, Puducherry by narrating the life event of End of Life Care provided to her own mother.
Mrs. Jessy Shaji Paul, Senior Nursing Officer of All India Institute of Medical Sciences and an ardent Volunteer of DNipCare summed up the Session.
Ms. Shakila Murali, Palliative Care charge Nurse, CMC Vellore provided the feedback.
Miss Shalini Dutta, MSW Student of Delhi University and intern with DNipCare said vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, faculties and participants of the programme effectively coordinated by Mr. Suresh Thaliyaril, Secretary, DNipCare and partnered by Echo India represented by Mr. Albin Mathews and Ms. Anila Goswami.
